OVER BAND ELECTRO MAGNETIC SEPARATORS is one of the magnetic separators that attracts ferrous particles, suspended above a conveyor belt where Mild steel materials are lifted up from the conveyor. The attracted iron particles are held against the bottom side surface of the separator until removed or by self-cleaning method in which there is a belt that travels continuously around the magnet.
They are of two types
- Cross belt magnetic separators
- Inline magnetic separators
Both types come with the option to be either (i) Air Cooled, (ii) Oil Cooled.
These two magnet types – Inline and Cross belt are self-cleaning separators. They have an electromagnet that is surrounded by a moving belt conveyor. It has the same functions as the suspension magnets, but the ferrous iron particles are separated and they are simultaneously knocked off from the magnet and from the conveyor line as well. This is why it is a self-cleaning magnet. This magnet does not require any manpower during or after its operation.
The inline and cross belt magnetic separators are of various capacities and can be custom built to work efficiently in different parts of the world.
The Electro over band magnetic separator consists of a stationary tri-polar design magnet unit, with coils wound in aluminum wire or foil (copper available as an option) dependent on size, and insulated to Class ‘H’ (or above) temperature specification to receive DC power supply. Magnets can be air or oil cooled, whichever is more suitable for the application. Oil cooled magnets are fitted with expansion tanks to ensure the coil is always immersed in oil.

Cross belt Suspended Separator magnets provide a true self-cleaning industrial magnetic separator systems solution, for continuous metal recovery from the conveyed materials. Ferrous metals are magnetically pulled out of the non-ferrous conveyed materials; ferrous materials collected on the self-cleaning magnetic separator belt are conveyed and discharged to the hopper.
Electro Flux Over Band Permanent Magnetic Separators are non-electric suspended type separators which does not require any external power source. The tramp iron contains an inside material which is conveyed under the magnet attracted and its force will pull the iron particles to the face of the magnet. Iron particles attracted through the self-cleaning method are automatically and continuously removed from the permanent magnet by the belt that travels around the magnet which throws them to the chute.

Electro Flux Self-Cleaning Separators are designed for installation over conveyors where tramp iron contamination exists and needs to be removed for protection of subsequent processing machinery or providing a cleaner product. The self-cleaning type uses a two-pulley design. Parallel self-cleaning magnets are mounted in line with the material flow, while transverse self-cleaning magnets remove the ferrous materials over the side of the conveyor.
